How to Remove Sticky Candy From Carpet

[ad_1]

With Halloween just around the corner, kids will be anxiously waiting for the joy of filling their bags with goodies from trick-or-treating. Candy messes on the floor can be fairly stubborn accidents to clean up, especially if it’s deeply embedded into the carpet fibers. Candy contains many different dyes, depending on what type of sweet it is. Whether your carpet has been covered by bits of cholocate or a jolly rancher stain, the clean up procedure is very similar. You need to take into account what type of carpet you have because there are different procedures for removing sticky candies from carpet. It’s not a good idea to forcefully pull stuck candy from your carpet because it can rip the carpet fibers up, and leave loose dangling carpet threads.

Synthetic carpet and wool carpet

Initially, you need to take some sort of scraping tool (butter knife works great), and scrape up as much of the excess sticky candy from the carpet. You need to eliminate as much of the thick, caked-on candy from the floor. Next, dip a sponge into warm water, gently brush outward from the center of the stain to wipe off any more candy particles. Now, take approximately ½ a teaspoon of liquid dish soap and work it into the carpet fibers with your fingers. Wet a paper towel and blot the stain to transfer the surplus of candy.

Next, you will need a clean cloth dipped in distilled white vinegar, and you can begin to dampen the remaining stain. Let the distilled white vinegar sit for a few minutes, in order to better remove the candy stain. The distilled white vinegar will help dissolve any of the leftover candy residues! To lift, press down onto the stain with a clean cloth. If the stain still persists, repeat the process of dampening the spot with vinegar, and then blotting. Once you have fully removed the candy spill, flush the newly cleaned carpet area with water to remove the distilled white vinegar. Finally, allow the affected area to dry naturally. Store-bought carpet stain cleaners also prove to be just as effective as well.

Majority of all kids look forward to experiencing Halloween fun every year, as well as the Halloween treats! Don’t let little candy messes get you frustrated, candy stains might take a little bit of elbow grease, but they are definitely not impossible to clean up! It’s time for you and your family to get into the Halloween spirit!
